Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement is aware of a video which is circulating on social media of an assault which occurred over the weekend. This is an ongoing investigation, therefore no other information can be shared at this time.

****PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT****

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Police Department (CRST PD) would like to clarify recent community concerns regarding a law enforcement vehicle observed near the Iron Lightning turnoff on US 212.
There are NO Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations currently taking place on the Cheyenne River Reservation.
The vehicle observed in the area was a marked (or half-marked) CRST PD patrol unit. The officer operating the vehicle confirmed that he was conducting stationary RADAR traffic enforcement in that area. This was a routine traffic safety operation.
CRST PD remains committed to transparency, public safety, and maintaining trust within our community. We encourage community members to verify information through official sources before sharing or reposting content that may cause unnecessary concern.
