SMALL BUSINESS GRANT DEADLINE NOW
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30

An announcement from the State today extends the deadline for the Small Business Grants program by one week and broadens the criteria.

In addition to the extended deadline, other updates include:
• Increasing the maximum grant from $100,000 to $500,000
• Decreasing the minimum threshold from $750 to $500
• Broadening the eligibility requirement from reduction in business of more than 25% to a reduction in business of more than 15%

SMALL BUSINESS GRANT PORTAL OPENS OCTOBER 13-23



On October 9, The State announced the opening of the Small Business and Healthcare Provider Relief Program, which will utilize up to $580 million in Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) dollars to assist small businesses, community-based healthcare providers, and non-profits negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.



The ONLINE application process for the small business funds is slated to begin on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 and end on Friday, October 23. Program FAQ's can be found at covid.sd.gov by clicking on the Small Business & Healthcare Grants button.

The Small Business COVID Interruption Grant is for businesses that can show a loss in income from March-August 2020 compared to March-August 2019. A total of $400 million has been allocated for this program.



The Small Business start up grant is for businesses who have registered with the state between September 1, 2019 and June 1, 2020 whose growth has been impacted. Businesses must show a loss in 3 of 6 months between March and August 2020 or an average monthly income during this period that is less than 120% of the average monthly income prior to March 1. A total of $10 million has been allocated for this program.

Under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans may be forgiven if borrower’s use the proceeds to maintain their payrolls and pay other specified expenses. The Treasury Department and Small Business Administration recently released an eleven-page borrower application form & instructions for loan forgiveness and.. people have a lot of questions!

Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF) 2020 Request for Applications (RFA) is now open. It will close on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 11:59 pm CDT.
Eligible Grant Recipients:
• 501(c)(3) organizations
• Educational organizations
• Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) and Native CDFIs
• State and federally recognized Tribes and instrumentalities of Tribes
Funding Areas:
• Targeted funding in business assistance, agricultural education, technical support and advocacy services
• Special emphasis funding in traditional foods/food sovereignty, advocacy, agriculture extension and youth programming
