đźš’ Busy 24 Hours for Your Fire Department đźš’
The Eagle Lake Fire Department had a very active Thursday and Friday, responding to three calls within a 24-hour period.
On Thursday night, crews were dispatched to a structure fire at a duplex that caused significant damage to the interior. Thanks to the rapid response of our firefighters, the fire was quickly brought under control, preserving the overall integrity of the structure. While there was extensive damage to the occupants’ personal property, the building itself is repairable. We greatly appreciate the Garwood Fire Department for their assistance with overhaul operations.
In the early hours of Friday morning, we were called to a major traffic hazard at the four-way stop in Altair. A passenger vehicle struck an eighteen-wheeler, rupturing a hydraulic oil tank and spilling oil across a large portion of the roadway, creating extremely dangerous driving conditions. Our crews contained the spill using oil absorbent materials, and Delgado’s Wrecker Service handled cleanup and proper disposal. The Texas Department of Transportation then sanded and swept the roadway to ensure it was safe for motorists.
Shortly after returning to service, we were dispatched to the Atwater Prairie Chicken Refuge for a reported electrical fire at their new visitor center. Fortunately, the fire self-extinguished prior to our arrival and no further action was needed.
