💙OFFICER DOWN💙
Our thoughts and prayers are with a South Houston Police Officer who was shot in the head with a shotgun following a pursuit last night. He remains in the ICU, fighting.

This incident also resulted in an officer-involved shooting. TMPA Regional Attorney Marsha Todd responded to assist our members on scene, and Field Representative Leighton is en route to the hospital to be with the officer and their family.

This is the reality of law enforcement. Split-second decisions. Unpredictable danger. And officers who still show up, ready to serve.

We stand with this officer, his family, and the entire South Houston Police Department.

💙 DEPUTY KENNETH LEWIS 💙
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office has announced the line-of-duty death of Deputy Kenneth Lewis, who succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a passing vehicle while assisting a stranded motorist on I-10 near Eldridge over the weekend. Deputy Lewis was in uniform at the time, stopping to help someone in need — and paid the ultimate price in service to his community.

TMPA stands with the Lewis family and with everyone in the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office as they grieve this devastating loss.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Lewis family and the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. May they find strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.

It is with profound sadness that the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office announces that Deputy Lewis has succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the early morning accident on I-10 near Eldridge Road in Houston on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

As previously shared, Deputy Lewis was assisting a stranded motorist at approximately 3:40 a.m. when he was struck by a passing vehicle that fled the scene. He was transported to a local hospital, where medical staff worked tirelessly to save him.

Despite those efforts, Deputy Lewis passed away as a result of his injuries.

Deputy Lewis demonstrated the very best of law enforcement. His selflessness, dedication, and commitment to serving others reflect the core values of our office and the profession he proudly served.

We ask that you continue to keep Deputy Lewis’ family, friends, and our FBCSO family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Houston Police Department. Additional information, including service arrangements, will be shared when appropriate.
