It fills me with great pride when I look at this photograph. It all started at 4:45am when we as a community came together to offer the Veterans of Maverick County Eagle Pass Texas a small token of gratitude for their service and unrelenting courage to fight for freedom. Thanks to the undying support of Maverick County Judge Ramsey English Cantú, VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System Represented by Valentine Lara, Pedro Villareal, Mrs.Liliana and Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Represented by Hugo Martinez and Scott Givens, and South Texas Food Bank we were able to distribute over 230 packages of food and valuable information for the veteran and their families. The morning was cold and the afternoon hot but these volunteers did not fear the elements for they were filled with courage and commitment to serve the veteran community!

I would like to thank Maverick County Judge Ramsey English Cantú VFW Post 8562 American Legion Post 211, City of Eagle Pass, Texas, BAD COMPANY MC EPTX, RVLA school LITERCY ACADEMY and all other organizations that helped make this Veterans Day Ceremony possible!!! From one veteran to a community, THANK YOU!!!!

This event is organized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System, and community partners including South Texas Food Bank, CDCE, and the State of Texas – County of Maverick.
