Crews clearing Hwy M South of Hwy 76 this morning. Many large trees blocking the roadway. The last tree closest to Hwy 76 was too large and too dangerous for our crew to take down. MoDot was called to assist with its removal.

Last week, our crews were invited to Barry County Youth Camp in Roaring River to talk with campers about fire safety and the tools we use on the job.

Firefighters suited up in full gear with an air pack to show campers what we look and sound like on a call. We want kids to recognize that even though we look a little different, we are there to help and there’s no need to be afraid.

Campers also checked out the Jaws of Life and tested their strength to see if they can lift it. Let’s just say we saw some serious muscle out there. We’re already filling out applications for 2035.

The Barry County Sheriff's Office stopped by earlier to show off a patrol car. Then we pulled up with the fire engine. The campers loved both, but the big red truck had everyone wide-eyed — and yes, that includes the deputy. We saw you eyeing the rescue truck. You’re welcome to stop by the station anytime to climb around, hit the sirens, and test out the big air horn. We won’t tell. 🚒😉

Thanks again to Barry County Youth Camp for having us and for investing in our local youth. We love getting out in the community to share fire safety.

Our Fire Station would like to ask if anyone has a residential Refrigerator they don't need. We are looking to add one to help keep up with the every mounting breakfast groceries. Thank you for your consideration.
