Eagle Valley Wildland is offering its community slash removal and chipping program in September. For residents within the Town of eagle, all slash piles must be properly stacked and ready for pickup by Sunday, September 6.

Please note that collection does not happen all at once, crews may take several days to pick up all piles throughout town, so having your materials ready by the deadline is important.

To ensure your pile is accepted, be sure it meets the program’s guidelines for size, materials and stacking.

With utility work now complete, the Capitol Street project has entered its final phase, with construction expected to wrap up in the coming weeks. Residents are already seeing major improvements take shape, including new curbs and sidewalks, while crews continue work on curb and gutter installation, crosswalks, lighting, paving, and striping.

One of the project's first paving milestones is already complete, with new pavement now in place on 4th Street between Capitol Street and Broadway. Weather permitting, the bulk of remaining paving work on Capitol Street is anticipated to begin the week of September 14, marking one of the final major steps before the project's completion.

We're excited to be nearing the finish line and look forward to reopening Capitol Street to the community. Plans are underway for a community celebration, and additional details will be shared as they are finalized.

Con las obras de servicios públicos ya finalizadas, el proyecto de Capitol Street ha entrado en su fase final, y se espera que la construcción concluya en las próximas semanas. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has implemented voluntary fishing closures on portions of the Eagle and Colorado rivers, due to unusually warm water temperatures and low flows that can place significant stress on fish populations.

We encourage everyone to be aware of current river conditions and help protect these important natural resources by following CPW guidance and ushing fish-friendly angling practices. Taking steps to reduce stress on fish can help support the long-term health of our local river ecosystems.

Parques y Vida Silvestre de Colorado (CPW, por sus siglas en inglés) ha implementado cierres voluntarios de pesca en ciertos tramos de los ríos Eagle y Colorado debido a temperaturas del agua inusualmente cálidas y bajos niveles de caudal, condiciones que pueden generar un estrés significativo en las poblaciones de peces.

Animamos a todas las personas a mantenerse informadas sobre las condiciones actuales de los ríos y a ayudar a proteger estos importantes recursos naturales siguiendo las recomendaciones de CPW y practicando técnicas de pesca responsables que sean favorables para los peces. Starting this week, our Community Development front desk will close at noon each Friday to provide staff with dedicated time to focus on ongoing projects.

Having uninterrupted time for these tasks helps our team work more efficiently and stay responsive to community needs.

Our new business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Fridays. Staff will still be available on Friday afternoons via phone and email, but not in person.

This special community event is presented as part of the Vilar Performing Arts Center’s ongoing commitment to making the arts accessible throughout the Eagle River Valley. The Vilar’s outreach and community engagement initiatives include STARS (Support the Arts Reaching Students), the Community Arts Access ticketing program, and free in-school workshops with visiting educational artists. This is a FREE event; no tickets or registration required. Thursday, September 10, at 6 p.m.

Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged bring folding chairs and picnic blankets for additional seating. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Alcohol is not permitted at this event.
