KZYR, Walking Mountains and the Eagle Valley Alliance for
Sustainability are coming together again this year to celebrate Earth Day and our beautiful mountain surroundings at “ Party for the Planet” . This fun and family-friendly day is sure to be a crowd pleaser with fantastic food, vendors, music and a myriad of earth loving kid’ s activities. Walking Mountains Science Center will begin the day
in conjunction with Bill Heicher, Open Space Coordinator for the Town of Eagle, by planting trees along the riparian corridor. Over the years Eagle has staged award-winning rehabilitation and mitigation efforts to ameliorate the harsh affects cattle have contributed to the land. All community members are invited to help in this process - willows and cottonwoods will be planted from 9am – 11am. Local yogis are also invited to come out for a morning class in the park. Walking Mountains will also be hosting a bevy of family activities throughout the day: Earth Day related crafts, kid’ s exploration touch tables, a naturalist guided walk along the river and macro invertebrate exploration stations along Brush Creek. Come on out to get your hands dirty and explore your curious nature with the kids! The Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability will once again be partnering with Alpine
Arts Center and Habitat for Humanity to bring you the 2nd Annual Recycled Art Show that will preview at Party for the Planet in the Studio at Brush Creek Park. To learn more about registering a piece for the art show visit, www.EagleValleyAlliance.org. Rob Drabkin, multi-year Westword winner for “ best singer and songwriter” , and his band will provide musical entertainment for the day. Often compared to Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson, Rob is used to performing at sold out venues. Expect this “ breezy, flip flop rock” artist to raise the house on May 14th. Crazy Mountain Brewery will be making sure your mugs are full of tasty brews while The Dusty Boot, Nicky’ s Quickies and “ the crepe guys” will be on hand to provide great bites. Proceeds from Party for the Planet benefit Walking Mountains Science Center and the Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability. This is a great time to get out with the whole family and celebrate spring in the mountains!
