My wife Carrie and I are raising our two sons in this beautiful valley. I will be a Sheriff that is connected with the community I serve. Being a member of the public, living and working with them side by side, not closed off from them and living apart, this is the type of law enforcement officer I have always been and the type of Sheriff I intend to be. I want to share what I bring to the table a

s your next Sheriff:
• I have over 20 years of law enforcement experience both locally and internationally;
• I have held positions from road deputy and detective to commander of an international police station;
• I have the experience both internationally and locally in organizing and planning large successful operations as well the ability to speak 3 languages;
• I have a track record of working with diverse cultures and will work with all agencies that will be coming to this valley in 2015 and beyond;
• I understand community Policing and embrace its principals with having been extremely successful in problem solving and decreasing issues by working within diverse communities both locally and abroad and bringing a respect and cooperation between these communities and the police.
• I will be a Sheriff that is connected with the people I serve, accessible and available to assist with their needs;
• A sheriff who believes in our U.S. and State Constitutions.
• A Sheriff who will not just give you lip service saying he will not enforce the illegal laws created by our state legislature that go against our 2nd Amendment rights, but a sheriff who will stand with you and challenge them at every level;
• A sheriff who wants to improve our communities by not just solving crimes and making arrests, but preventing them from happening;
• A sheriff who wants to tap into the resources of our seniors as volunteers and develop our youth with explorer programs focusing them on careers in law enforcement and other emergency services;
• A sheriff who pledges to serve you, not just in the months prior to an election but each and every day. I am here asking simply for the opportunity to serve all of you as your next Republican Sheriff of Eagle County.

There’s something to be said for surrounding yourself with good people.

A great afternoon at the park, catching up with friends, fellow community leaders, and neighbors. Conversations like these are a good reminder of why serving this community matters.

I’m grateful for the honest conversations, the encouragement, and the feedback I continue to hear from people across Eagle County.

It’s a privilege to serve as your Sheriff, and I never take that responsibility for granted.

As we’ve been out door-knocking, we’ve been hearing a lot of questions about the Coroner’s Office. One thing that has surprised us is how many people don’t realize just how important the Coroner’s role is, or that the position is elected.

That’s why I’m glad to have Coroner candidate Chris Ryan joining me for two upcoming community conversations in Eagle County.

David has known me for more than 30 years, going back to when I served as his Field Training Officer early in his law enforcement career. His perspective comes from years of knowing our community, our agency, and the importance of strong leadership.

Andrew Waters served with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office from 2023 to 2025, and his perspective comes from having been part of the agency.

He saw firsthand the importance of having experienced leadership in place, particularly during major incidents when the Sheriff and Command Staff were on scene, communicating with the public and supporting their people.

I also appreciate Andrew being open about why he made the difficult decision to leave the Sheriff’s Office. His decision was about his family and finding the balance he needed, not about the people he worked with or the community he served.
