Heads up, Eagle County! Drought conditions are reducing natural food sources for bears and driving them into our communities.

We need your help to keep both our community and local wildlife safe by:
- Using bear-resistant trash cans and putting garbage out ONLY on the morning of pickup.
- Taking down bird feeders, keeping pet food indoors, and cleaning outdoor grills.
- Businesses: Ensure all waste is fully inside secured, bear-resistant dumpsters and never place food waste in recycling bins.

Do your part to keep bears in wild places (like this duo at Brush Creek Valley Open Space) and away from human attractants (like this one in a Gypsum neighborhood)!

The eastern parking lot and trails will be temporarily closed at Duck Pond Open Space for habitat improvements.Please avoid this area starting Wednesday, May 20th through May 21st. The west entrance and boat ramp area will remain open.

The Roaring Fork Outdoor Coalition brings together local, state, and federal land managers who care for our natural spaces and recreational opportunities (like Pitkin County Open Space and Trails!) to consider how we can conserve and maintain them in the future.

Right now, the Coalition is mapping out where to focus efforts in the coming years, and your feedback will help shape those decisions.

Trail Access Update: The Adam's Way Trail Connector seasonal opening will be delayed until further notice. When the intersecting utility construction is completed we will respond to this post. The main Adam's Way Trail is opening as scheduled. Thank you for being patient!

Even with dry conditions, the seasonal closures at Homestead L and the Eagle River Preserve are in effect through April 15th. Please give wildlife the best chance to survive and respect these closures.
