What a weekend! Freedom Park was transformed into a kaleidoscope of color this Saturday for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, and we are still buzzing from the energy!

Whether you ran the 2.3-mile challenge, took a colorful stroll around the lake, or just came for the pizza and DJ Krusher’s beats, you helped make a massive impact. Seeing our community come together alongside our local first responders to support the incredible athletes of Special Olympics Colorado was truly inspiring.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who ran, walked, danced, volunteered, or donated. Because of you, Special Olympics Colorado athletes have more opportunities to shine on and off the field. A special thank you to our agency partners, Colorado State Patrol, Eagle PD, Vail PD, Avon PD, Eagle County Paramedic Services, and our event sponsors Edwards Metro District, Domino's, Sundaes, Marko’s Pizza, Mountain Beverage, Mountain Rec, and Vail Rec District!

Check out some of our favorite moments below!

We are proud to share that the Town of Eagle, CO has been ranked the 6th safest city in Colorado in the SafeWise 2026 Safest Cities Annual Report. The report measures safety by analyzing rates of violent and property crime, while also considering Coloradans’ concerns about issues like gun violence, cybercrime, package theft, and property crime. This accomplishment marks a significant increase from our notable ranking of 10th safest city in Colorado in the 2025 report. This year’s report noted that Eagle’s reported violent crime decreased by 50% and property crime decreased by about 36% year over year (source: https://www.safewise.com/research/safest-cities/colorado/ )

The Town of Eagle and the Eagle Police Department credit this recognition to our strong community service policing model, ongoing investments in public safety, and the positive daily interactions between the police department and Eagle’s citizens. We believe community safety is a true partnership, and we are grateful to work alongside the wonderful people of Eagle in creating a safe, thriving town!

This St. Patrick’s Day, Sergeant Westering and Officer Wolfe represented Eagle PD while engaging with visitors on Vail Mountain.

Our local law enforcement ski program brings together officers and deputies from the Eagle Police Department, Avon Police Department, Vail Police Department, and the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office. Having law enforcement on the slopes helps strengthen community relationships, supports public safety, and provides on‑mountain education for residents and visitors.
