Curfew Ordinance Reminder

The Lower Providence Township Police Department has seen an increase in curfew violations this summer. As a reminder, in accordance with Lower Providence Township Ordinance 71-2, individuals under the age of 18 are prohibited from being in public places during established curfew hours.

The hours of curfew are:
Sunday-Thursday: 10:00PM - 6:30AM
Friday-Saturday: 12:00AM - 6:30AM

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Lower Providence Township Police Department Detective Michael Nastasi presented to the IAFCI Delaware Valley Chapter and representatives from Vanguard’s Fraud Investigations and Recovery Team. Detective Nastasi spoke on the emerging trends in financial crime investigations, digital forensics, and collaborative strategies for combating technology enabled fraud.

The presentation introduced the Convergence Framework of Financial Crime Investigations. This investigative philosophy places an emphasis on collaboration among law enforcement, financial institutions, digital forensic professionals, and industry partners, to identify and disrupt sophisticated financial crime schemes.

Opportunities like this serve to strengthen the partnerships between the public and private sectors, promote the exchange of information and investigative knowledge, and expand the collective ability to protect victims and combat an ever-evolving financial crime industry.

Last week, our police intern, Emilio Liberatore, wrapped up his summer internship with the Lower Providence Township Police Department. Emilio is entering his junior year at the University of Pittsburgh, where he is studying criminal justice.

During his internship, Emilio gained valuable insight into the law enforcement profession through experiences with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, SWAT, Montgomery County Detectives, the Pennsylvania State Police Boat Patrol, and the Montgomery County Police Academy. He also assisted with our Junior Police Academy and participated in ride-alongs and mock crime scene investigations with our department.

It was our pleasure to work with Emilio this summer, and we wish him the best as he continues his studies and pursues a career in law enforcement. Good luck, Emilio!

We had a wonderful visit from our friends at Camp Perky last week.

Campers stopped by the Lower Providence Police Department for a behind the scenes tour with Chief Jackson, who shared a look at what happens inside the police station and answered lots of great questions.

Of course, no visit would be complete without checking out one of our patrol vehicles, and Chief Jackson wrapped up the morning by reading a story to the group.

Congratulations to Sergeant Matt Kuhnert, Sergeant Jeremy Bonner and retired LPPD Officer Reggie Nealy for completing the 65 mile Ben to the Shore bike ride. Great job!

Hosted by Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation, the Ben to the Shore Bike Tour is a charity bike ride that raises money to provide necessary financial relief to the families of fallen or critically injured first responders; to cultivate positive interactions and relationships between first responders and the communities they serve; and to provide mental and emotional wellbeing resources to first responders and their families.

Drivers are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Ridge Pike will be closed and detoured between Pechins Mill Road and Crosskeys Road. During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Germantown Pike and Evansburg Road.

LPPD would like to introduce Chelsea Burke, who has been selected as the Police Department's new Emergency Services Support Specialist.

In this new role, Chelsea will provide administrative and operational support for the department's emergency services functions, helping to coordinate critical programs, assist with special projects, and support the department's mission of providing exceptional service to our community.

Chelsea is no stranger to LPPD. She previously interned with the department and made such a positive impression that we are thrilled to welcome her back as a member of our team. Her enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to serving others make her a great addition to the department.

Outside of work, Chelsea enjoys playing softball, cheering on the Phillies, and spending time with her dogs, family, and friends.

Welcome back to the LPPD family, Chelsea! We are excited to have you on board.

Another successful year of Lower Providence Township Junior Police Academy is in the books!

Over the course of three days, our cadets had the opportunity to learn more about police work, teamwork, safety, and what it means to serve the community. We are so proud of the energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitudes they brought with them each day.

We hope everyone had a great time, learned something new, and made some fun memories along the way. Wishing all of our cadets a safe and happy summer!
