Faith Electric And Navitas Utility Respond To Requests To Install Whole Home Generators After This Weekend’s Ice Storm Knocks Out Power

After this weekend’s ice storm, reports indicate that over 22,000 people in Southwest Oklahoma were left without power from hours to days. Some are still waiting for the lights to come back on. The outage map from Caddo Electric is attached.

Navitas Utility Corporation which provides natural gas service in the area recently had a $150 natural gas generator installation rebate approved by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in an attempt to assist its customers stay warm in the winter. Typically, even natural gas heaters still require electricity to run the fan blower and other small electric components. The rebate gives Navitas Utility customers $150 once they install a whole home natural gas standby generator.

A whole home generator with an automatic transfer switch automatically kicks in if the power grid fails. Natural gas whole home generators never need to be manually refueled as they get their natural gas supply directly from the gas utility company distribution pipeline. That means the heater, TV, and all the other electronics in the home can be run during a power outage without even stepping outside.

Faith Electric, Inc. out of Edmond, OK provides and installs Generac whole home generators. Larry of Faith Electric stated that they typically install over 350 natural gas generators a year. Faith Electric does everything from providing the right size generator, installing the automatic transfer switch, laying the generator platform, to hooking up the natural gas line. The only thing customers have to worry about is fitting their installation in Faith Electric’s schedule before the next ice storm.
