At approximately 5:00pm yesterday 3/20/26 the EFD was dispatched to 2 separate calls at the same time with one being a brush fire right outside of town and the other a structure fire in town. Crews responded to both and after crews cleared the structure fire in the matter of minutes, they responded as well to the brush fire along with the crews that were already in route. 25 MPH winds with 48 acres and of that 23 acres of it is wooded with 3 houses in the center of it all. Crews went in with hand tools and water with a quick and aggressive attack the fire was stopped with burning only around 2 acres of thick woods. Afterwards the Arkansas forestry Commission sent in equipment to take down trees to prevent any other fire spread.

Wildfire risk has increased across the state today and will continue through the weekend. The increased risk is due to:

- Low humidity, increasing winds, and higher temperatures
- High levels of desiccated leaves and other vegetation from last growing season
- Increased numbers of people attempting to burn debris, fields, and woodlands

We urge everyone to please take caution and pay attention to conditions in your area prior to attempting a burn.
