Earlville Police Department introduces our first Therapy Dog, Luna. Luna is a 3 month Shih Tzu and has a bit of growing to do. Luna will be with her handler, Officer Felecia Rasmussen and she will be assigned to the school with Officer Felecia. We would like to thank the Lions Club for their amazing donation to help us with getting Luna and paying for her training classes. We would also like to thank Tri County Vet for taking care of all Luna’s Vet care. Also thank you to Allycia White for taking care of her grooming needs. All of these are being donated by them and we thank you so very much. Thank you to Peru PD Officer/SRO Brian Zebron for assisting Officer Felecia with getting all the required things done in order to have Luna. Thank you to the Earlville City Council and Earlville School Board for approving this new addition.

Luna’s job will start on August 17th at Back To School Night and she will continue her training while doing her job. A lot of people have questions about what her job will be. This is a list of her jobs and we have had so many kids already that said they can’t wait to come to school and are very excited.

Reduce Anxiety: Petting a dog lowers cortisol and increases oxytocin, calming nervous or overwhelmed students.

Build Reading Confidence: Children practice reading aloud to non-judgmental dogs, which removes the fear of making mistakes.

De-escalate Meltdowns: Dogs offer grounding sensory comfort to students experiencing panic attacks or emotional crises.

Improve Attendance: The anticipation of seeing a school dog motivates chronically absent students to attend classes.

Boost Social Skills: Dogs act as social icebreakers, helping isolated students connect with peers and counselors.

Support Crisis Recovery: Handlers deploy dogs after school tragedies to provide immediate trauma relief and grief support.

The Village of Earlville would like to make the public aware that there is a college student from the European Country of Estonia in town: Merili Bookgirl Tamm.

Merili is a university student from Estonia, Europe doing a summer internship with an educational company from Nashville, TN. She has checked in with the City Hall and Police Department to let you know she's around. Merili will be meeting up with families in the Village of Earlville selling educational materials that:

1)help with ACT preparation by Princeton Review

2)help with college credit classes by McGraw Hill

3)study guides that help parents to help kids with new math & save time with homework and test prep

4)leadership program that teaches life skills and success habits

5)and a jump start program for the pre-k kids that give a head start for school.

Merili is driving a grey Nissan Sentra and has an accent, please do not be intimidated by that. If you are not in interested, she will thank you for your time.

Sorry it’s taken me a few days to post , but I wanted to thank everyone who came out for our First Responder Picnic. We had so much fun and we hope you did too. Thank you so much to all our sponsors that assisted us with pulling this off. Thank you so much to Jessica Olson , Rachel Quintero, you guys are so amazing. Can’t thank you enough for not only getting this together but helping so much on the day of. Thank you to the Earlville Fire and EMS for coming out and helping put the games together. Thank you to Alex Westerlin for making the pies for the eating contest. Thank you to Riley Bridge for making dessert. We also want to thank Officer Felecia’s husband , Jay and Chiefs Scheib’s wife for being the grill masters for the day. I know I’m forgetting someone or something and I’m sorry. But again I thank everyone so very much for making this a success. We had more kids wanting to get in the dunk tank than throwing the ball. Super fun day.
