Today for our Early Literacy Program (Story Time), we enjoyed a snack, listened to our friend Gloria read 'The Sun Thief' to us, and had fun making a suncatcher.

During our craft, we focused on using our fine motor skills by tearing tissue paper and carefully placing the paper pieces and sequins onto contact paper while being mindful of spacing.

"πŸ“š **Currently Seeking Donations** πŸ“š

On Saturday, July 18th, the Friends of the Library will be hosting a free will donation lunch during our town’s Crossroads Days Celebration!

We are currently looking for donations of:
β€’ Hamburger buns
β€’ Individually packaged chip assortments
β€’ Bars or cookies
β€’ Condiments
β€’ Paper goods βœ…
β€’ Bottled water

We ask that all food donations be brought to the library by 3:00 PM Thursday, July 16th so we can purchase any remaining needed items.

If you would prefer to support the meal financially instead of purchasing or baking items, we would gladly accept monetary donations as well. (We have both Venmo and PayPal available.)

πŸŽ‚ We are also seeking donations of cakes for the Cake Walk taking place on Saturday, July 18th from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM. Cakes may be dropped off at the Center by 10:00 AM that morning.

This free will donation lunch benefits the Friends of the Library, a volunteer organization dedicated to planning community events and raising funds for library and community activities.

Thank you for considering a donation and for supporting our community! ❀️"

For our Early Literacy Program today, we enjoyed a snack along with a Storytime Kit and a STEM To Go Kit from the State Library of Iowa. We read books about cars and had so much fun exploring the roll-and-race activity ramp, toy garages, cars, and trains.

Play helps children develop creativity, vocabulary, and important social skills. Pretend play is especially valuable for building oral language and encouraging communication through hands-on learning and imagination!

There are still a few items left on our Summer Library Wish List for anyone wanting or able to donate. Your generosity helps make our summer events and programs possible for local kids and families.

Summer reading programs are so important because they help fill the learning gap that can happen when school is out. Reading throughout the summer keeps children engaged, strengthens literacy skills, encourages imagination, and helps students return to school more confident and prepared.

Every donation, big or small, helps us create fun opportunities that inspire a love of reading and learning all summer long. Thank you for supporting our library and community!

Today we enjoyed a special visit from the Sac County Naturalist! She read us a story all about bugs, and we learned about the important role of pollination. We also had so much fun making a ladybug craft to go along with our lesson! 🐞🌼
