June is Men’s Mental Health Month — a reminder that mental health matters for everyone.

Too often, men are told to “man up,” stay quiet, or push through difficult emotions alone. But stress, anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, and substance use can affect anyone.

Checking in with yourself, or someone you care about, isn’t a weakness. It shows strength.

This month, we encourage everyone to:
✔️ Check in on the men in your life
✔️ Normalize conversations about mental health
✔️ Ask for support when needed
✔️ Remember: struggling silently doesn’t have to be the norm

A simple “How are you really doing?” can matter more than you know.

Today, we remember the heroes who gave everything in service to our nation. As you spend time with loved ones this Memorial Day, take a moment to honor those whose sacrifice made these moments possible. From all of us at BHSPC, we wish you a safe and meaningful holiday.

Congratulations to our RESTORE Community Paramedic, Lane Wood! We appreciate you, Lane and all that you do for our community!

The South Carolina EMS Association is proud to recognize Lane Wood of Pickens County EMS with the 2026 Community Impact Award during EMS Week.

As Pickens County’s first Community Paramedic, Lane has helped strengthen the connection between EMS and the community through preventive care, patient advocacy and long-term support for individuals facing healthcare challenges outside of traditional emergency response situations.

His nomination highlighted his dedication to improving patient outcomes through community outreach, resource coordination and helping connect patients with the care and support they need to improve their quality of life. Lane’s work reflects the evolving role EMS professionals play in addressing healthcare needs beyond the 911 call.

Thank you, Lane, for your dedication to your community and the meaningful impact you continue to make through EMS.

To the Class of 2026—Congratulations!

You did it. The late nights, hard work, challenges, memories, and milestones brought you here, and we’re cheering you on every step of the way.

As you celebrate this exciting season, remember: the best memories are the ones you actually get to take with you into your future.

Celebrate big. Stay safe. Look out for your friends. Have a plan. And don’t be afraid to be the one who says, “Let’s make the smart choice tonight.”

Your future is bright—and we can’t wait to see where it takes you.

💙 Congratulations, graduates!

Sherri and Eric Higham of the Doolin Dalton team stopped by this morning to present BHSPC with a generous check for $9,025!

A portion of these funds will support our Pickens County Youth Board Summer Leadership Training, while the remainder will help provide trauma-related services to those in need.

We are incredibly grateful that the Doolin Dalton team selected our agency as this year’s ride beneficiary. These funds will make a meaningful impact on both our patients and our youth leaders.

Today is National Fentanyl Awareness Day. This day is about education, prevention, and saving lives. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is often mixed into other substances without a person’s knowledge, making even one use incredibly dangerous.

At Behavioral Health Services of Pickens County, we believe awareness can make a difference. Honest conversations, prevention education, and knowing the risks can help protect our families, friends, and community.

If you or someone you love is struggling with substance use, know that help is available and recovery is possible. You are not alone.

Let’s work together to spread awareness, reduce stigma, and save lives. 💜
