Fourth grade reviewed and applied their knowledge of figurative language by completing a coding project on Scratch. Students had to plan out their videos using a graphic organizer with a partner. Then students used the application, Scratch, to create videos that demonstrated their figurative language types. At the end of the week, students presented their coding projects. Their peers had to watch the videos then analyze them for the figurative language types by identifying the figurative language and then determining the meaning. Who knew coding and reading could go hand in hand? It’s easy as pie!

It’s been a STEMastic day in Lower Elementary Montessori! Mrs. Squires class created a design that would slow the speed of an egg without breaking it! They went through the whole engineering process and were very successful! Only one egg cracked! Then they went on the nature trail at our school and found eggs! They had to solve the problems inside the eggs and earn candy as they were solved! Finally, they came in for a sweet treat! Rice krispy treats made with PEEPS! It’s been a fun day of hands on learning!

Mrs. Squires’ Lower Montessori Class had a fun week learning about weather tools! They taped a thermometer outside of their room and checked the temperature throughout the day and kept a line graph of their data, they created an advertisement to convince buyers to buy their particular weather tool, and last but not least, they created wind socks today and tested out the direction of the wind! Way to go Engineers!
