Rosewood Heights Fire Protection District

Rosewood Heights Fire Protection District Rosewood Heights Fire Protection Department The RHFD is a volunteer fire department with four paid part-time firefighters.

The station is staffed Monday-Friday 5:00pm to 7:00am and 24 hours Saturday and Sunday. Currently, there are approximately 30 active firefighters. Our volunteers receive no compensation when called for any emergencies or trainings.

There is a nation wide shortage of volunteer firefighters and our area is having the same issues. In 1996 our department had over 40 volunteers, today we have half that. If you have ever thought about becoming a volunteer firefighters this is the time to do it as every volunteer department in our area is in need of help. If you are interested call, send a Facebook message or stop by your local volunteer department and talk to them. We are more than happy to talk with you about what it all about. There is also a shortage of people wanting to become full time firefighters and paid departments are struggling to get enough people to apply for open positions.

Last night we trained on building construction with a focus on engineered wood I beam construction and their dangers of failing quickly under fire load. Firefighter Dilks did a good job of constructing this prop and explaining different construction methods we may run into in the fire service.
