4-H members “spruce-d” up their tree knowledge at our October Monthly Workshop!

We learned how to identify 10 different species of local NY trees. We saw millipedes, deer, and squirrels, and we even smelled a couple of sweet smelling trees (birch tree- if you know, you know! 🤤)

We also learned what the green fruit shown in the last picture is… leave a comment below if you know what it is! 😎🐿️🪵🌲🍁

We are so happy to be back in schools delivering Dairy Agriculture in the Classroom lessons! 🐄🤍🥛

This month, students learned about milk’s journey, from the cow to the carton. We finished each lesson by trying different cheeses! Over 90% of students tried a cheese they had never tasted before. 😮👏

4-H Club Leader Appreciation Post! 🍀💞

Thank you to all of our awesome club leaders and volunteers who attended our 4-H Leader Meeting last week. During the meeting the 4-H Office shared updates and resources with clubs. It also provided a space for leaders to gather and exchange ideas and tips. We even had representation from independent 4-H members!

We appreciate all of our dedicated club leaders who provide so many opportunities for positive youth development. Erie County 4-H would not be what it is without you! 😄😄

🌲 Register now for our 4-H Tree ID Workshop! 🌳

🍁 We are going to learn how to identify trees, and also learn about some indigenous uses of these trees, as this workshop is taking place on Indigenous Peoples' Day.

🍁 Registration is required. Program is open to all Erie County 4-H members (best suited for older 4-H members, but all ages welcome). Participants must register by Saturday, 10/7. Email [email protected] to register. In the email, include 4-H member's name and age.

🍁 The workshop will take place at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve on Monday, October 9 from 1-2:30pm.

Scenes from our Food in Community Festival and 4-H Celebration this weekend! 🍀🍂🐸🍎

We practiced yoga, made candles, "milked a cow," tasted some yummy food (grapes, vegan cheese, taco in a bag, ...), and so much more! Our favorite part of the day was being able to hang out with 4-H friends and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. 😄

Thank you to all of the volunteers, vendors, and youth who made this event possible, and to Friends of Reinstein Woods for hosting us!

🎂🍰🧁 The Erie County Fair this year was sweet!

Here are some pictures from our Cake Decorating Event, sponsored by Erie County 4-H Alumni. Participants all went home with a new cookbook, and 2 participants won baking supplies!
