East Bank Town Council Meeting Update 8/11/2026
The meeting opened with review and approval of last month’s meeting minutes. Then, the Financial Report was reviewed and approved after a question or two was presented and answered.
Police Report: Commissioner Hughes stated 19 (911 related) calls were received during the month. Calls were for shop lifting, trespassing, and a traffic accident. 28 letters were sent out by our Code Enforcement Officer, addressing issues in our town. At some point there was discussion about the number of citations issued, and the question of how many speeding tickets have been issued. During last month’s City Court session, penalties were assessed and payments were over $1,250. Another question was asked about how many patrol cars have radar units installed in them, and the reply was all of them.
Streets Report: Grass cutting and w**d eating took up much of the crews time during the month, with making repairs to the Football Field’s concession stands water system and replacing one area of fencing to secure the field taking up the remainder of their time. Several busted pipes were repaired to ensure facilities for the events held there in the past month, and the fence installed to secure the area along Pioneer Street, with chains and locks installed to minimize vehicle traffic on or around the field. A suggestion was made to provide a key to the Cougar Football team and securing the front entrance gate each evening after their practice/use; and this fall to remove the inner fencing and post around the filed itself to eliminate the damaged fence line.
Sewer Report: The regular monthly meeting of the Sewer Project was canceled as someone on vacation and unable to attend. Information provided states that Project #1 is now 87% completed; and Project #2 is now 72% completed. No sewer issues were reported for this period. Concerns were raised by a few residents concerning damage done to their homes by the construction crews, when are the repairs going to start, etc. Follow up with the Engineering Group and or the Contractor should help to get some answers.
Recreation Report: Farm Days went well for those who attended. The Rodeo was a success with over 1,000 in attendance for the two nights. The grass seeding and replanting has gone well, and the field looks great. Upcoming things: 1) Movie Night, with all proceeds donated to Mullins Family with sick child/grandchild; 2) partnering with folks involved with the rodeo to advertise events on this end of the valley before to get the word out to more people; 3) Working Delegate Howell on an option to host a fair and the football field with an upcoming meeting attended by one or more council members to hold conversations with other county and state officials.
Safety Report:
Other discussion points: 1) A donation was made to the Cat Spay and Rescue Organization for helping to manage the cat population in town. 60 cats’ have been removed from town, and 12 cats were fixed this past month. Help is available if needed, with Candy and Mickey point of contact if needed. 2) Discussion also about people stealing items and destroying them behind the Post Office and in the streets at Willow and 1st Avenue; people moving into one of more residence with large number of people there; Viscous Dog Ordinance needs rewritten with changes, suggestions were for 1st offence $100 fine, 2nd Offence $200 fine and 3rd Offence removal of the animal from the residence; 4) We began reviewing current ordinances tree months ago, and need to continue the process, and for sure retype the ordinances and possibly make some changes moving forward.
One last thing, Food Truck Sunday went well, and we appreciate everyone that came out and supported the businesses there.
