Donald J. Pavasaris (DJ) is a member of Kensington Fire-Rescue and has served the citizens of Berlin for the past 13 years. He currently holds the position of Captain. DJ is a devoted family man and a great friend to us all. DJ is personally battling kidney disease and is in need of a kidney transplant. Many who need a kidney transplant can spend an average of 5-7 years waiting for an organ on the National Organ Transplant Registry, but if there is a living donor, the wait time can be just a few months. E7 was dispatched to cover the Westfield Fire Dept while they operate house fire with in their district. While on cover assignment Westfield was alerted to a reported car fire on I91 SB in the area of the Town line. E7 arrived to find a fully involved pickup truck crews extinguished the fire with assistance from Cromwell Fire Dept Squad 1.

While you slept
Over night Town of Berlin Fire Departments operated a fully involved shed fire in our first due E7 arrived and made quick work of the fire crews were on scene for little over an hour overhauling and picking up.

Our New Engine 7 has started the build process

Here are the first pictures from the construction of Engine 7 out of East Berlin Company 1. The firetruck was approved for purchase in January of 2023. This begins the process of building the apparatus; we will keep you updated!

The South Kensington Fire Department, along with East Berlin, Berlin, Kensington Fire Departments, as well as the Southington and Westfield Fire Departments will be conducting a large scale drill. It will be on Monday 5/11/26 from 7pm to 10pm. This drill will be focused on supplying water for fires in our non hydranted areas of town. The drill will be in the area of Cross Creek, Elton Rd, Kensington Rd, and Orchard Rd. You will see many different firetrucks in the area shuttling water. There may also be a disruption to normal traffic, especially on Cross Creek and Elton

This evening around 1630 Co1 was dispatched to Rt9 NB to for a reported vehicle fire Engine 7 arrived to find as reported a well involved Jeep. Crews from E7 extinguished and overhauled the vehicle with assistance From Co3 Engine 8
