Yesterday, June 12 - marked the 18th anniversary of my very first time I ever set foot on the Rolling Hills Asylum property. It was during a three day event with Darkness Radio event (Dave Schrader) - June 12, Friday 13, & 14 2008). Little did I know that a just 16 months later I would be the new owner of Rolling Hills Asylum, moving cross country, by myself with just one suitcase. I had no plans nor inclination to leave my home in So Cal - but fates and the spirits had a different plan for me. Now in my 16th year of ownership - which honestly, I feel more like a steward, guardian, protector. So many people have had a hand in preserving and furthering this legacy, including all of you who've ever visited. A mere thank you seems less than adequate, but never the less - a thank you I will say. To all of you, to all the celebrities, to all the volunteers (past and present) and to all the spirits who truly feel like family. They are the ones that make this life barable - as it is 10 x harder than any of you will ever know (not a complaint- just a fact). 2027 will mark the 200th Anniversary of the open of this property (as The Genesee County Poor House). I am doing my best to keep this place alive and well (hopefully, my health stays the course - as in a previous post you can see how in blink of eye someone can be gone). I do have one favor, one plea to all of you - if you could, if you would, if you can, would you please, please donate to the roof GoFundMe? The roofs need a lot of work - to much and too costly. to even begin the project. If you have any interest in preserving a piece of history - then please - even the value of a cup of coffee is appreciated. I started this GoFund me two years ago and have raised just $1644. Roofs costs $200K+. That is not a typo. I don't have a lot of pull or celebrity status in this field - but I can tell you no one has given more heart and soul, blood, sweat and tears to a property than I have. I say this with out ego but as fact. Ask anyone that knows me well- they will attest to this. Thank you for those who donate, visit and support Rolling Hills Asylum in any way you can. With much appreciation.. Sharon RHA - https://gofund.me/1e18ab906
**Adding something: RHA doesn’t qualify for any grants, state or county funding. I do not have a pod cast, tv show, YouTube show or am a social media influencer in any way, which means no monetization or sponsorships. I am just a person who loves history (and dead people 👻) and wanted to preserve a part of it. Big dreams. Big intentions. But a regular person like all of you. No deep pockets. No relatives to leave me an inheritance. If you all hope to have this property continue on for years and generations to come— repairing the roofs is imperative.
