Though it’s not Friday we apologize for the delay! We still wanted to highlight one of our great members!

This week is George Heissenberger!
When asked some questions he shared:

I have always wanted to be a firefighter since watching Emergency on TV as a kid. I joined Union Hill Fire Department in 1985 and my wife Peggi and I both volunteered there for 20 years, my wife as EMT and myself as Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief before moving to Bloomfield in 2005. In 2005 I joined East Bloomfield Holcomb Fire Department and have served as Firefighter, Assistant Chief, Vice President and Commissioner. 2025 marked my 40th year as volunteer firefighter. I enjoy giving back to my community and the camaraderie of the Fire Service.

*East Bloomfield is so lucky to have you!*

On today’s Firefighter Friday we are highlighting Heather the Vice President of the Department.

why they joined: Heather joined the EBHFD in March of 2018 after just buying a house in town the summer before. She knew she wanted to get involved in the town and she jumped right in. Previously she had been apart of the ladies auxiliaries for Farmington and Chili. She was even the director for Chili company 1’s auxiliary for a little bit before moving.
Heather was told before she should limit herself to the auxiliary because she was short and the gear would be too heavy. When she moved to Bloomfield she never felt limited in the department. Every body was welcome and could be adapted for..as there is truly a place for everyone. Even the single mom who’s 5’2 and was much heavier at the time. Being apart of the EBHFD gave Heather the confidence to show her son everyone matters and she has grown in her role at the firehouse. She is the Fire District Secretary and has served in that role for roughly 7 years . Additionally she helps with the BBQ’s and helps find the donuts for Halloween! She loves fire prevention and was sad this year was the last one her son will go to at the elementary school as next year he moves up to middle school.
Heather was elected as the Vice President of the Fire Department this past December and is loving the chance to grow more in the department.
If you haven’t seen her on calls she can also be found helping out CES with calls in the past and is a comforting presence on the good and bad days.
Heathers son Seth is never far behind her at drills safely watching at a distance, doing homework at times but mainly observing the team work and family dynamics we share. Seth shared his mom loves others before herself. She will literally jump up from the table at a restaurant when someone drops something hurting themselves to help. She is often first to volunteer to help with the smaller committees to help run events and things at the firehouse because she loves to help.

Her fun fact: She also coaches soccer for her son’s team and has coached for 4 years. She is also a proud member of the Lions Club in town and loves to serve with them too!

Today is Friday!
Today we are highlighting our President of the Department Steve Murnan.
When asked for some info to share he said :

“Hi , my name is Steve Murnan . I've been a member of the East Bloomfield -Holcomb Fire Department for over 50 years . Way back then I shared an apartment with a guy who at that time was a member here . I got curious about what he did and after a few conversations he brought me an application . I get a good feeling when I/we are able to help someone who most likely is having a bad day . Over the years I've served on many committees . I served 16 years on the Board of Fire Commissioners and at the present time I'm the current President of this fine organization . We are in need of more members . If you have an interest stop by any Monday night . Take a tour and grab an application I'm sure it will grow on you .”
