Today’s post is to share about our auxiliary portion of the fire department!
A fire auxiliary is a support group of volunteers—often family members of firefighters or community members—who aid a local fire department.
They help us with chicken bbq’s and other events during the year such as Halloween!

It is with heavy heart we share about one of our very own passing. As first responders it’s never easy to face loss but when it’s one of our own brothers it’s a little bit harder.
Alex Brown was a member of not just our department but jumped right in to serving with CES and the ambulance services. He was a lieutenant and driver.
Alex answered the call day or night when he could. Often showing others the ropes on the firehouse to the smallest tasks of washing the ambulance after calls. He was happy to hop on and help.
Alex leaves behind so many loved ones and he will never be forgotten. So grateful for Alex for giving his heart and time to this town. Grateful for his lessons shared and how he helped shape future firefighters and medics by his caring heart.

This week’s Firefighter Friday we are highlighting Kathi Gosper. She has been our department treasurer since 2018!
When asked to share:

I joined in 2008, and got my EMT license in 2009. This article explains why I joined. In 1991 my best friend Patty Scoville was r***d and murdered in Stowe Vermont. It took years to find and convict her murderer. As I drove back from his sentencing trial, I thought about the victim impact statements her family made about the things Patty had been doing with her life. And I wondered what I could do going forward to continue to honor her legacy of volunteerism. A couple days later I came upon Pat Long standing at the recruitment table at the Bloomfield memorial Day parade. The sign that he had said "Volunteer Needed".I talked to Pat and over the next few months he pestered me and convinced me to join the fire department and the EMS crew. I'm a mom to 32-year-old Patti Gosper who also became an EMT. She's named after my friend Patty. I'm also a mom to 29-year-old Josh Gosper, wife of 33 years to Tom Gosper. I was an avid softball player for 39 years until I hurt my shoulder. I am a former ICU nurse and current nurse leader at highland hospital. I've been a nurse for 35 years.

Geoffrey Breeze has dedicated much of his life to serving others. He is married to his wife, Tricia, of 18 years, and together they have a blended family that includes three sons, a stepdaughter, and a granddaughter. Family, community, and service have always been central to Geoffrey’s values.

Prior to joining the East Bloomfield-Holcomb Fire Department, Geoffrey volunteered with the Churchville Fire Department and Brockport Ambulance, where he developed a strong appreciation for emergency services and the importance of helping neighbors in times of need. These experiences strengthened his commitment to public service and inspired him to continue serving his community closer to home.

For the past six years, Geoffrey has proudly served as a member of the East Bloomfield-Holcomb Fire Department. His dedication to protecting the community and supporting his fellow firefighters has reinforced his belief that a strong fire service is built on teamwork, accountability, and community involvement.

Wanting to contribute beyond emergency response, Geoffrey chose to serve as a Fire District Commissioner. In this role, he works to ensure the department has the leadership, equipment, training, and financial resources necessary to provide the highest level of service to the residents of East Bloomfield. He believes in responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, transparent decision-making, and planning for the future needs of the district.

Whether serving on the fireground or helping guide the direction of the fire district, Geoffrey remains committed to protecting the community, supporting its firefighters, and preserving the traditions and values that make the East Bloomfield-Holcomb Fire Department a vital part of the community.
