๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’ช East Bridgewater Fire's 2nd Annual Fit for Duty May ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿš’
Throughout the month of May, members of the East Bridgewater Fire Department took part in our 2nd Annual Fit for Duty May challenge. Firefighters pushed themselves through weekly circuit training sessions while also competing to see who could achieve the greatest weight loss during the month.
The challenge was about much more than numbers on a scale. It was an opportunity for our members to improve their physical fitness, build teamwork, and strengthen the camaraderie that makes our department successful. Firefighting is a demanding profession that requires strength, endurance, and resilience, and our members demonstrated their commitment to being physically and mentally prepared when duty calls.
While balancing emergency responses, training, inspections, and the daily responsibilities of serving the Town of East Bridgewater, our firefighters continued to show up, work hard, and support one another. There were plenty of laughs, friendly competition, and encouragement along the way, making the challenge both productive and enjoyable.
We are proud of every member who participated and embraced the challenge. Their dedication to health and fitness helps ensure they are ready to provide the highest level of service to our community whenever they are needed.
Great work by everyone involved, and we look forward to continuing to build on this success in the years ahead!

East Bridgewater Fire Department and members of the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team, representing fire departments from across Plymouth County, gathered today to train on concrete breaching and breaking operations.

To elevate the challenge and realism of the training, members performed these skills while suspended on rope systems, simulating difficult access situations that may be encountered during technical rescue incidents.

Continually advancing our training and adding new skill sets helps ensure our personnel remain prepared to respond safely and effectively to a wide variety of emergencies. Training like this strengthens our capabilities and reinforces our commitment to providing the highest level of service to our communities.

๐Ÿš’ Great News for East Bridgewater Fire Department! ๐Ÿš’

Weโ€™re proud to share that the East Bridgewater Fire Department has recently been awarded three important state grants totaling over $21,900 to support firefighter safety and community education initiatives.

โœ… Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant โ€“ $13,179.84
This funding from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Department of Fire Services will help us purchase critical equipment that enhances the safety and effectiveness of our firefighters in the field.

โœ… SAFE & Senior SAFE Grants โ€“ $6,011.49 and $2,748.11
These programs support our ongoing efforts to deliver fire safety education to school-aged children and community risk reduction programs for our senior residentsโ€”two of our most vulnerable populations.

These grants make a direct impact by strengthening both our emergency response capabilities and our prevention efforts within the community.

Weโ€™d like to thank the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Department of Fire Services, and our local partners for their continued support. We also recognize the dedication of our members who work year-round to protect and educate our community.

Earlier today, the East Bridgewater Fire Department responded to a lawn mower accident involving an adult who was injured when a riding mower overturned near a ground level solar panel array.

Crews quickly reached the patient, provided immediate medical care, and transported him to a local trauma center.

This incident is an important reminder to stay mindful when operating lawn equipment, especially in areas with uneven terrain or obstacles.

Stay safe and always take a few extra minutes to evaluate your surroundings before getting started.

Today, members reviewed vehicle fire hose movement operations and reinforced key tactics for effective fire attack on vehicle fires. Crews practiced coordinated hose advancement and positioning while working around simulated vehicle fire conditions. Members also trained on gaining access to engine compartments and trunk areas using hydraulic tools to reach and extinguish stubborn pockets of fire that can remain hidden during suppression operations.

Training like this helps sharpen operational readiness, improve scene safety, and build confidence when operating at real-world incidents. Continuing to train on core firefighting skills ensures our members stay proficient, prepared, and ready to respond effectively when called upon.

Our thoughts are with Boston Fire Department and the Kilduff family after this tragic incident. Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr. was not only a great firefighter, but a Marine veteran, selfless leader, and friend that left his mark on everyone he interacted with. He will be missed by all.
