Feet up and about to call it a night... Not so fast... Red Rock and our Canaan partners were out again last night. If you're a snow-bird, a weekender or just out of town for an extended period for that well deserved vacation, consider letting 911 know who your local key holders are. It saves time and helps the emergency responders. Register your info with your alarm company or 911 dispatch on the NON-EMERGENCY line (518)828-1263.

The work doesn't always stop once the trucks come home. Reloading equipment and double-checking supplies became a Monday night drill so we're ready for the next call.

Some mornings, like this one, the alarm clock just before 5 am is not the hum of an iPhone or a smart watch. It's a pager... Answering a battalion call and doing what we train for.

Another heavy thunderstorm and Red Rock went out last night just before 8 pm for downed trees and wires along county route 5. Arriving on the scene they found live wires touching the guardrail creating one very long electrified metal barrier. The crew immediately staged apparatus safely, closed the roadway and awaited NYSEG to disconnect the power before attempting any further cleanup... Reportedly there was also the rescue of a baby raccoon who was injured when the tree that pulled down the wires fell. Kept safe in one of the trucks, Encon officers were contacted and literally handled that! Back in service and everyone home by 12:30 am

Morning Red Rock! Please be careful today-roads are cleared for the most part but there's still some debris. While we enjoy seeing you, we'd prefer it's at pasta night or Octoberfest and not the side of the road!!

Please note - County route 24 remains closed to traffic as storm related clean up continues. Clark Rd still has significant debris and is one lane in some areas. NYSEG and other power trucks have been busy in Red Rock all weekend. Crews are working hard. Please be patient and cautious when driving and give clean up workers room as they help us get over mother nature's temper tantrum!
