šŸ„«ā¤ļø Help Us Fill the Geminus Head Start Pantries! ā¤ļøšŸ„«

I am excited to share that Geminus Head Start is participating in the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana's Hunger Hike fundraiser!
The site pantries are available to support the families HS serves who may be experiencing food insecurity. Every dollar raised through our Hunger Hike participation will go directly toward stocking the pantry "bank" and purchasing food for site pantries, which will help ensure children and families have access to nutritious food when they need it most.

Share the opportunity with community partners, friends, family, and other supporters
Help spread the word about the impact the pantries have on the families we serve

Follow the fundraising link below to visit our Geminus Head Start Hunger Hike page. There, you can track our progress, view supporters, make a donation if you choose, and easily share the page on social media.

WHAT WE ALLOW AT HOME WALKS INTO THE CLASSROOM.

When a young child is allowed to talk back, yell at adults, ignore directions, argue, or be disrespectful at home, they don’t automatically turn that behavior off when they walk into child care or school.

It shows up there, too.

And in a classroom, that behavior doesn’t affect just one child. A teacher may have 10, 15, or 20 children who all deserve the opportunity to learn, play, grow, and feel safe. When significant time is spent redirecting behaviors that have become acceptable elsewhere, the learning experience of the entire classroom can be interrupted.

This isn’t about expecting children to be perfect. Children are learning. Children test boundaries. Children have big emotions. That’s part of development.

But that’s also why the adults in their lives have to teach boundaries, respect, appropriate communication, and accountability—consistently.

Home and school have to be partners. We can’t expect teachers to correct in the classroom what we continuously permit at home.

Our children are watching what we allow, learning from what we model, and carrying those lessons wherever they go.

Parents, educators, caregivers… let’s talk about this.

We didn’t forget yesterday. šŸ’›

It was a day of reflection for all of us impacted by her loss. We celebrated her in different ways, remembering her love, her life, and the legacy she left behind. She is deeply missed.

At LSH, 8/18 will always be LOVE DAY. šŸ’›

And even as we navigate this slight disruption in life—power outages, lost food, and the challenges our NWI communities are facing—we are reminded of what she taught us:

Lead with LOVE. Always.

That’s the LPB way. šŸ’›

šŸ’” LSH Families, we are deeply saddened to announce another closure.

Please forgive the late post. We waited until 8:30 tonight, hoping and praying for a miracle—that the power would be restored. Unfortunately, not yet. šŸ˜”

Once power returns, we must replenish and make sure our programs are fully operable before welcoming everyone back.

LSH will remain CLOSED Monday, August 17, 2026.

We know this has been difficult. We miss our babies and we miss being OPEN! ā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ¾

Thank you for your patience, grace, and understanding.
