🌼It’s a rainy first day of September in East Dorset. The summer blossoms are fading and being replaced by the golds, yellows and oranges of Autumn.
📙We have a lot to look forward to in the coming month, with some back to back retreats and seminars.
🍔This Labor Day Open Weekend kicks off with a cookout on Friday night, open to everyone in our community, (reservations/by donation) welcoming new friends and a group from Philadelphia who have been coming for 24 years!
🌞We want to take this time to thank a number of volunteers who took it upon themselves to bring joy to many with countless hours of w**ding, planting, donating plants, hauling and watering. They turned a once w**d infested backyard into a playground for grownups. So special thank you’s to:

WOODY JACKSON ORIGINAL SIGNED two-sided painting on maple, 1983. (Bathtub for comparison 😊)
🐄When we put out a call for tag sale donations a local couple showed up with a truck full. Amongst the treasures was this Woody Jackson one of a kind painting on maple, that once hung on the side of their barn.
🐄For those of you unfamiliar with this artist, he graduated from Middlebury College in 1974, then worked on a dairy farm and began painting images of cows. In 1983, Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry’s phoned Woody and asked if they could use Woody’s cows as their trademark.
🐄So if you are a child of the 70’s or 80’s, a Dead Head, live in Vermont, raised on Cherry Garcia and Phish Food, don’t miss this opportunity to own a true piece of Vermont History.
🐄She has lost her feet over the years, so is in far from pristine condition. We are asking for a minimum of $500.00. We are holding on to her until midnight of this Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Pic 3 & 4: 385 Village Street, aka Uncle Marley’s Store, has just begun to get a makeover. We’ve discovered the clapboard under the vinyl siding and is in great shape and will be so beautiful when patched and painted. The building permit is for removing the addition on the south side of the building because it isn’t stable enough for us to use in a lodging license. More info and updates on the construction soon!
