We had so much fun participating in this year's Alero Financial's trunk-or-treat! The tall banana (Mike) was a big hit! What a great night and a wonderful chance for families to try out Halloween costumes and make any changes before the end of the month festivities.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

This month, we recognize the contributions of people with disabilities in our workforce and recognize the importance of creating opportunities for everyone to be successful.

That’s why I introduced HB 1145, legislation that would provide a state income tax credit to businesses that hire people with developmental disabilities.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute, build a career, and achieve greater independence. By supporting employers who open their doors to more workers, we contribute to building a more inclusive workforce in Illinois.

It was a pleasure to join the Elgin Hispanic Network for their monthly meeting and co-host the event alongside State Representative Anna Moeller.

We had a great opportunity to connect with EHN members and guests and hear from Michelle Lura White, Women’s Business Development Manager with the Office of Economic Equity & Empowerment (OE3) at the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO). Michelle shared valuable information on resources and opportunities available to entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Thank you to the Elgin Hispanic Network for welcoming us and for the important work you do to support Hispanic businesses, connect our community with resources, and create opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

It was a very early start of the day, but well worth it to learn more about the great things happening throughout Kane County. I look forward to continuing to partner with the County to better serve the northern end of Kane County.

Well done, Madam Chair Corinne Pierog! Kane County Government

Our office, along with the Office of State Representative Anna Moeller, was excited to join the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northwest Suburbs in Carpentersville for the grand opening of the Foglia Woodlands Teen Impact Center.

The new center provides teens with a welcoming place to learn, connect, build friendships, and take part in programs that support their goals and future. And it’s good to have the largest Boys & Girls Clubs teen center in the country right here in our community!

Congratulations to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northwest Suburbs, the Foglia family, and everyone who helped make this incredible space possible.

Our office was pleased to join Thresholds in celebrating the opening of its expanded Center for Mental Wellbeing in McHenry and learning more about an important new resource coming to the community.

Opening this fall, The Living Room will provide free, 24/7 walk-in support for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. The peer-led program will offer a community-based alternative to emergency services, with Recovery Support Specialists drawing on their own lived experiences to support others.

We’re grateful to Thresholds for expanding its services in McHenry County and helping make mental health support more accessible to individuals and families in our community.
