The City of East Ellijay along with the East Ellijay Police Department are sad to hear the passing of Retired Officer Perry Branyon. Perry was in law enforcement for 25 yrs in Gilmer county and was well known and loved in our community. Perry started at the Gilmer County Sheriffs Office in 1998 and stayed until 2001 when he was hired by the East Ellijay Police Department until retirement in 2023. Perry was a great Officer for 22 years with East Ellijay and will be missed.

Our hearts are with our neighbors at the McCaysville Police Department after last night’s tragic events.

On Friday, September 12, 2025, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Captain Brantley Worley of the McCaysville Police Department, was critically injured in the line of duty while responding to a call for service. We ask the Gilmer County community to join us in lifting Captain Worley, his family, and the men and women of the McCaysville Police Department in prayer during this extremely difficult time. 💙

At this time, the suspect has been identified as:

👤 Timothy Craig Ramsey

26-year-old white male

5’11”, approx. 185 pounds

Long hair, blue eyes

Last seen on foot near 1st Street in McCaysville, GA

Clothing: green top, dark bottoms, dark motorcycle helmet

Ramsey is wanted for Aggravated Assault with Intent to Murder a Police Officer and is considered ARMED and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

⚠️ Do not approach. If you see Timothy Craig Ramsey or have any information regarding his whereabouts, call 911 immediately.

We stand in full support of Chief Michael Earley, Captain Worley’s family, and the McCaysville Police Department. Multiple agencies are working together in this active manhunt, and we will not rest until this suspect is in custody and justice is served.

In reference to the incident at Mountain Cinema on September 10th. The incident that occurred happened in the side parking lot of the cinema near the back. The incident had nothing to do with Mountain Cinema or any movie that was showing. The person involved was not from Gilmer County.
