🚧 TRAFFIC NOTICE 🚧

Starting Wednesday, June 24, the Town of East Granby will be doing maintenance near the main gate through an anticipated completion date of July 14.

On June 24 from 7 a.m. to noon, the inbound and outbound lanes will close at different times, with traffic routed through the open lane for both entering and exiting the installation.

Please use extra caution near the gate and follow traffic direction signs and personnel.

The Connecticut Air National Guard’s 103d Airlift Wing participated in the 82nd anniversary D-Day commemorations across Normandy, France, June 2–7, 2026, providing aerial support for the first time as part of Joint Task Force 82.

Today, the 103d Airlift Wing welcomed former members, retirees, and veterans for Old Timers Day, a longstanding tradition that celebrates the generations of Airmen who helped shape our unit's legacy.

The event provided an opportunity to reconnect, share stories, and recognize the dedication of those who paved the way for our current Flying Yankees!

Did you spy a 4-ship C-130 formation? ✈️

C-130 air crews from the Connecticut and Rhode Island National Air Guard coordinated last month to conduct a joint interfly exercise between the two units, flying four C-130 aircraft in tactical formations.

Congrats again to (ret) Col. Matt Deardorff, who served in recent years as the 103d Operations Group Commander. He retired on June 10, 2026 and completed his final 'fini' flight, with Deardorff piloting one C-130 Hercules and current Ops commander Lt. Col. Doug Ferro piloting the the other. The pair flew over sections of New England, to include Mt. Washington.

Deardorff has also served as an Instructor Pilot within the unit and has flown over 1,029 combat hours, 1,483 instructor hours, and has served through seven deployments.

"Through two command tours, he led with integrity, transparency, and team building," said Ferro at the ceremony. "He alway had the strongest moral compass, and made decisions based on what was right, not what was always easy-- which very often are not the same thing."

The 103d thanks Col. Deardorff for his almost 22 years of service and we wish him well in his next chapter. Congrats, Sir!
