Please consider supporting our brother as he battles cancer by purchasing a T-shirt and showing him that he doesn’t have to fight this battle alone. The fire department brotherhood runs deep, and when one of our own needs us, we stand together and support them every step of the way.

See flyer for ordering instructions. We appreciate your support!

🚒 EAST GREENWICH FIREFIGHTERS — MDA FILL THE BOOT!

East Greenwich Firefighters will be out in the community collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) through the annual Fill the Boot campaign!

For decades, firefighters across the country have helped MDA support individuals and families living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. MDA funds research, provides care and support services, and works to improve the lives of children and adults affected by these life-changing diseases.

Every dollar donated helps support this important mission.

We also want to make one thing very clear:
🔥 East Greenwich Firefighters do NOT receive any financial compensation or benefit from these donations.
100% of our participation is voluntary, and we proudly give our time to help raise money for MDA and the families they serve.

So when you see us out there with the boots, please consider stopping, saying hello, and making a donation — no donation is too small!

Thank you to our community for always supporting the causes that matter. We’ll see you out there! 🚒

Today, East Greenwich firefighters responded to a boat fire with multiple vessels in close proximity. In a situation like this, rapid intervention and adequate staffing are critical to preventing the fire from spreading and causing significant property damage.

With Rescue 1 out of service, Engine 1 responded with only two firefighters. Two firefighters arriving first to a working fire is well below nationally recognized NFPA staffing standards and creates challenges in performing the many critical tasks required at an emergency scene.

Whether it’s stretching hose lines, securing water supply, conducting size-up, protecting exposures, or preparing for rescue operations, these incidents require manpower. When staffing levels fall below accepted standards, it places the public, firefighters, and surrounding property at greater risk.

Fortunately, today’s incident was brought under control, but it serves as another reminder that emergencies do not wait for additional resources to arrive. Our community deserves a fire department staffed to meet the demands of today’s emergencies and provide the level of protection residents expect.

This is not just a firefighter issue—it is a public safety issue.
