I recieved a call this morning from the Gull Lake Dam Manager and I was told Gull Lake rose 2 1/2 inches last night without rain. His Hydrologist said we could expect additional rise over the next few days without any rain. I have seen docks underwater or very near right now on Gull Lake and other Lakes. I would suggest you raise your docks to be prepared especially if we get any kind of wind or more rain in the future. The Gull Lake Dam has stop logs pulled and is running at full capacity until things get under control. Please be prepared!

Tonight at 9:55 PM a power transformer exploded in my neighborhood at a neighbors home on Sylvan Lake causing a 30 foot diameter fire in the woods around the transformer. Pillager Fire put it out quickly and commented how lucky we were that we had very little wind this evening. Power was restored by Crow Wing Power at 11:10 PM. A good reminder to continue to clean up the storm debris as you never know when it can happen to your home. Great Job Pillager Fire and Crow Wing Power!

Effective the week of May 2, 2016, we will be closing the debris site located near the East Gull Lake Pine Beach wastewater treatment plant. This service has been allowed on Cass County Tax forfeited land and Cass County and East Gull Lake have been paying to have it cleaned up and maintained since the storm. We have made an agreement with Mike’s Tree Service that is Located on the south portion of County Road 77 near the Highway 371 intersection. Mike’s Tree Service will take all brush, tree debris, leaf and grass clippings as well for No Charge. Unfortunately they cannot accept stumps as they damage their grinder. Hengel’s Construction located on Highway 210 west of the Corner Store will also accept the same debris for a small charge depending on your load size and they do accept stumps.
