Our Story
The Retreat - Where violence ends and HOPE begins.
Since 1987 The Retreat has been providing domestic violence services and education to families on the East End of Long Island. Programs include a residential shelter for adults and children, a 24-hour domestic violence hotline, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy, and violence prevention education programs including one that is taught in our local schools, as well as the Suffolk County Fatherhood Initiative. All services are free of charge to The Retreat clients.
The Retreat values and is committed to providing compassionate, empathetic and culturally aware services to all clients. Interactions are approached with these values in mind, and it is expected that clients will be treated with compassion, respect and sensitivity during the provision of holistic, inclusive and welcoming services.
The Retreat does not discriminate with respect to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or military or veteran status in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
