In September of this year the Department started the East Hampton High School Public Safety Club, with the goal of interacting with students who have an interest in public safety or helping others. The club is not restricted to those seeking a career in law enforcement, but also includes those students interested in fire safety, EMS, or military service. The club is run by Officer Caleb Cavanaugh and meetings are held once a month in the T-Bell room of the high school. Officer Cavanaugh brings in guest speakers to talk to the group and conducts field trips to different public safety entities in town. On Saturday May 2nd the club visited the East Hampton Ambulance Association and learned about CPR, basic first aid, bleeding emergencies, and spoke with staff about more advanced levels of care provided by EMT’s and Paramedics.

ONLINE SCAM

Yesterday the East Hampton Police Department was made aware of an online scam involving the Town’s Planning and Zoning Department. An individual sent out the fraudulent invoice to a business requesting a wire payment before a permit could be processed. The invoice used the Town’s logo and appeared to be legitimate.
