🏆Yesterday at the National Association for County Community and Economic Development (NACCED) Annual Conference in Mesa, Arizona, Suffolk County's Department of Economic Development & Planning proudly received the 2025 Award of Excellence in Affordable Housing for its role in The Green at Gardiner’s Point.🏘
📍Located in East Hampton, one of the nation’s most expensive housing markets,📈 this 50-unit affordable rental community was developed by Georgica Green Ventures in partnership with the East Hampton Housing Authority.🤝 With support from Suffolk County, the project provides high-quality homes for households earning 30–60% of AMI, including teachers,👩🏫 healthcare workers,🧑⚕️ first responders,👨🚒 and service professionals👨🔧 who are often priced out of the very communities they serve.
💪Through collaboration with federal, state and local partners, Suffolk County invested in land acquisition, infrastructure and HOME funding to make this project possible. The Green at Gardiner’s Point now stands as a blueprint for sustainability, inclusivity, and economic fairness proving that affordable housing can thrive even in high-cost communities.🎖
🏡💙 This award reflects our commitment to tackling the housing crisis and creating a stronger, more equitable Suffolk County.
