YMCA First Church Non-Profit Organization Our Preschool Child Care programs provide excellent care for children in a nurturing environment. Our site is NAEYC accredited.

The curriculum at our early childhood learning centers are designed to offer enrichment child care, catering to families that value education beyond traditional child care. We provide an engaging environment for your child to explore activities in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, technology, healthy habits, and social, moral, and spiritual development. e YMCA’s Child Development Program’s philosophy is to develop the whole child as embodied in the YMCA symbol, a triangle, signifying the union of body, mind, and spirit. To achieve this, we offer a comprehensive program to foster the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative needs as well as the growth of all children. We recognize that each child is an individual with unique needs, abilities and experiences. All activities and materials are geared to the child’s developmental level and we encourage individual abilities to enhance self-esteem. The center offers a warm, enriching and nurturing environment. These early school experiences, usually being the child’s first, should be happy and positive. An environment, which is personally exciting and meaningful, will add to the child’s desire to learn. At the YMCA, children are motivated to explore, manipulate, question, discover and express their ideas through play, group and individual activities. Children are given choices as they interact with other children, teachers and the environment. The East Hartford YMCA ensures that no child shall be excluded from participation in or discriminated against under any YMCA Program because of his or her race, creed, color, religion, national origin, or disability. In our center we have two classrooms. The Rising Suns (young preschoolers) and the Shining Stars (older preschoolers). We are open all year round.

Good afternoon all! The holidays are approaching quickly! I would like to let all families know with some holidays on the weekend this year, our centers will be CLOSED on Monday, December 26, 2016, and also CLOSED on Monday, January 2, 2017. We will reopen for the new year on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

We hope you enjoy the time with family and friends, and want to THANK YOU all for your help, support, and trust in us!
