At 12:00pm today, C4, R1, and Sq1 responded to the area of 199 Saltonstall Pkwy for a reported motor vehicle accident with one vehicle on its side. Upon arrival, members found one occupant trapped in the vehicle and live wires hanging across both lanes of traffic. Crews worked to stabilize and remove the occupant, who was then treated on scene by AMR. Currently, Saltonstall Pkwy is closed between Hemingway Avenue and Forbes Avenue.

Early today, C4, Trk3, and Sq5 responded to the 700 block of Foxon Road for a motor vehicle accident involving a truck into a building. Members arrived on scene and found heavy damage to a truck and the building that it struck. Crews secured the building and provided emergency medical care to a victim on scene who was later transported by AMR for further evaluation.

Earlier this week, Battalion Chief Adam Ordway was honored as the East Haven Rotary Club's Firefighter of the Year. Chief Ordway has been an instrumental member of the East Haven Fire Department for almost ten years. Not only has he taken on initiatives, such as a leading role in the town's ALICE training program, but he also currently serves as L1205's treasurer. We know that Chief Ordway will continue to do great things within the department.

Earlier this morning, C4, Trk3, Sq5, and R1 were dispatched to the 800blk of Foxon Rd for a reported car into a building. Upon arrival, members found a car had driven through the front of a commercial store. Companies worked to secure the building, and one person was evaluated on scene. Luckily no major injuries were reported.

Earlier this morning C4, R1, and Sq1 responded to a motor vehicle accident requiring extrication. Members arrived on scene and quickly removed the occupant who was in serious condition. The patient was then transported to YNHH by EHFD and AMR paramedics.

Members participated in this year’s annual YNHH Center for EMS award ceremony. We want to congratulate FF/Medic Joe Benzi for being awarded the YNHH Paramedic of the Year award. We also had the privilege to meet a member of the community who was successfully resuscitated after being found in cardiac arrest by members of Sq5 and Truck 3. (Pictured FF/Medic Chris Hughes.
