Fire safety starts at home and having a plan can save lives.

I am proud to share this important reminder from Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services. Take a few minutes with your family to map out all exits, check your smoke alarms, and pick a meeting spot outside.

Make sure everyone knows what to do, practice your plan together, and keep pathways clear. A little preparation goes a long way in keeping your loved ones safe.

Stay safe!

Our first responders and military members face challenges that most of us will never fully see or understand. Supporting their mental health is critical for them, their families, and our entire community.

I want to share this important seminar focused on trauma awareness and su***de prevention, designed specifically for those who serve on the front lines. This program offers real tools, education, and a proactive approach to helping those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

If you or someone you know is a first responder or member of the military, I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.

Thank you to Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County for hosting this important program at the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank on May 7 at 9 AM.

Together we can support those who always show up for us.

As e-bike use continues to grow across Suffolk County, it is critical that we prioritize safety for riders, pedestrians, and drivers alike. Local Law No. 6-2026 is now being strictly enforced to help keep our roads and parks safe for everyone.

Please take a moment to review these important guidelines. Riders must be 16 or older, helmets are required, sidewalks are off limits, and all riders must follow the rules of the road.

Parents, I encourage you to speak with your children about riding responsibly. Unsafe or illegal use can result in serious consequences, including fines and impoundment.

Let us work together to keep our community safe and ride smart.
