Pleasant View Senior Center

Pleasant View Senior Center Pleasant View is an active and welcoming community. Stop by today to find out more about our events!

Senior Centers are a welcoming place for persons at risk of losing their ability to remain self-sufficient. As the National Association of Senior Centers explains, “Senior Centers are an entry point to an array of services that will assist them as they ‘age in place.’ Senior Centers offer a wide range of health, education, recreation, volunteer, and other social interaction opportunities for their

participants that enhance dignity, support independence, and encourage community involvement. Centers are also a resource for the entire community, providing services and information on aging, and assisting family and friends who care for older persons. Senior Centers can optimally provide a social environment conducive to the development of a social support system reducing loneliness and depression.”

The East Longmeadow Council on Aging, located at the Pleasant View Senior Center, strives to align its mission to that of the national organization. A recent completion of a five-year renovation project has transformed an old and outdated former school into a beautiful and comforting home away from home. The public is encouraged to come see the renovations, meet our staff and tour the building. Mission Statement
The Council on Aging supports and promotes the independence and social, physical, and emotional well-being of East Longmeadow elders by implementing and maintaining quality education, nutrition, recreational, and wellness programs.

We had a wonderful Memory Cafe event yesterday! Fallon Health did a presentation on how important it is to be hydrated. We also had a hydration station as well as a sampling of hydrating fruit refreshments provided by one of our sponsors, IntegriHome. The participants also played a fun game of Garden Bingo for prizes!

Our next monthly Memory Cafe meeting will be held on Tuesday, 21st at 11:00. Our Memory Cafe is for individuals experiencing memory loss and their caregivers. It is an opportunity to share in a fun and safe activity and meet others that share similar experiences. It is free and open to other neighboring communities. Transportation is available at no cost. If you would like to attend our monthly meeting, please contact the Pleasant View Senior Center at 413-525-5436.
