🚨 Coverage Matters 🚨

East Missoula Fire Department may not cover a large geographic area—but what we provide is dedicated, local response when it matters most.

If our department were to dissolve, there is no automatic coverage from surrounding agencies. Other departments are not obligated to respond unless the community formally requests to be annexed into their district.

And with that comes an important reality:
• That agency would determine coverage levels
• Service could look very different
• Costs would be set by that agency—not locally

We work closely with our neighboring departments, and mutual aid is always a partnership—but your local fire department ensures immediate, reliable service right here at home.

Protecting that local response is critical to keeping our community safe.

Training that prepares us for the moments that matter most. Recently, our crews had the opportunity to train alongside the incredible firefighters at Missoula Montana Airport. As an all-hazards department, we respond to a wide range of emergencies—including aircraft incidents—and this type of hands-on training is essential to keeping our skills sharp and our community safe.

From live fire scenarios to coordinated response tactics, these exercises help ensure we’re ready when seconds count. We’re grateful to the Missoula Airport crews and 139Fire for sharing their expertise and providing such a valuable learning experience.

If supported, levy funding would help expand access to advanced training opportunities like this—strengthening our ability to respond effectively to whatever emergency may arise.
Thank you for helping us serve you better.🚒🔥

🚨 What Does the Mill Levy Support? 🚨

We’ve had several questions about what funding would go toward—here’s a simple breakdown:

✔️ Replacement and maintenance of essential equipment
✔️ Ongoing firefighter and EMS training
✔️ Safe, effective response to fires, medical calls, and accidents

This isn’t about extras—it’s about maintaining and improving the level of service our community relies on every day.

We’ll continue sharing more details this week so you can make an informed decision.

🚨 Mill Levy Monday 🚨

East Missoula Fire Department continues to bring outside funding into our community—and it’s making a real impact.

Over the past several years, we’ve secured grant funding for critical equipment, training, and upgrades—helping reduce the burden on our local taxpayers. Some key investments include:

• 2017 – Turnout Gear: ~$188,000
• 2019 – Lifepak Cardiac Monitors: ~$70,000
• 2021 – Radios: ~$298,000

These resources have improved firefighter safety, enhanced lifesaving medical care, and strengthened communication on emergency scenes.

Grants allow us to expand and improve—but they aren’t guaranteed and often come with limitations or matching requirements.

That’s where the mill levy comes in.

A passed levy will provide a stable, dependable funding source to sustain daily operations, keep pace with increasing call volumes, and continue delivering the level of service our community relies on—while still pursuing grant opportunities whenever possible.

Grant funding helps us grow. The mill levy helps us sustain.

🗳️ Only 8 days left until the East Missoula Fire Department Mill Levy vote.

Thank you for your continued support.
