USCGAux Eastern L.I. Flotilla 18-06 ABOUT THE COAST GUARD AUXILIARY
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed, all-volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard. The U.S.

The Auxiliary was created by an Act of Congress in 1939, and has grown to over 32,000 members who daily support the Coast Guard in all its non-military, and non-law-enforcement missions. We have members and units in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam. Auxiliary members conduct safety patrols on local waterways, assist in Search and Rescue, teach boating safety

classes, conduct free vessel safety checks for the public, provide boating safety literature to dealers, as well as many other activities related to recreational boating safety.

March 23 2024 - It rained like mad, but the spirit was not dampened for the Change of Watch ceremonies. Coast Guard members from Station Shinnecock attended as well the Operations Training Officer from Coast Guard Section New York. The new Auxiliary Division Commander and Vice Commander, John Nichols and Jim Agals, were sworn into their new positions. Following that was the swearing in of the Flotilla Commanders and Vice Commanders located within the Division. We thank the Coast Guard for its support, and we thank the many family and friends who were also present.

We think the groundhog made a mistake. He may have seen his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter but definitely has summer and boating season on his mind!
