Counselors KK Slatten and Ali W**e presented at the MNPS School-Based Mental Health Mini Conference at Antioch High School. Their session, “Safety Planning Considerations for Children & Teens Experiencing Domestic Violence,” focused on how age‑appropriate safety planning can protect young people in a city where MNPD responds to 20,000+ domestic violence reports each year.

They reminded attendees that children can participate in safety planning when strategies match their developmental needs and that schools and trusted adults play a crucial role. In Tennessee, witnessing domestic violence must be reported.

Domestic violence impacts many Nashville families. Age appropriate, survivor led safety planning can make a real difference. Our own Brandon Hubbard was among 55 MNPD officers and professional support staff that graduated as Cohorts 5 and 6 of the ASPIRE Leadership Institute at Bridgestone Arena!

Hand-selected for their leadership potential, participants spent four months strengthening skills in communication, accountability, emotional intelligence, collaboration, relationship building and community engagement.

ASPIRE was developed through a partnership between the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the Nashville Police + Public Safety Alliance and InteraWorks to invest in the people helping lead the department and serve Nashville.

The FIP hosted an Ice Cream Social today for the partners co‑located in the Family Safety Center! 🍦😄 It was such a fun chance to come together, take a break, laugh a little, and enjoy some sweet treats. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! 🍨🎉 Moments like this remind us how awesome our community is and how much we appreciate everyone who works alongside us. 💛🙌

🌟 Supporting Vulnerable Adults in Davidson County 🌟

Members of the Davidson County Vulnerable Adult Protective Investigative Team (VAPIT)—a multidisciplinary partnership between the District Attorney’s Office, MNPD, Adult Protective Services, TBI, and community agencies—recently attended the Center on Aging Research and Education Services (CARES) Conference.
VAPIT works collaboratively to investigate cases involving older and vulnerable adults, provide essential services, and reduce the risk of abuse and neglect. The CARES Conference brings together dedicated professionals and community members who strive to protect this population and strengthen their skills and awareness.

🌟 Counselor Ali W**e at CCAW 2026! 🌟

We are proud to share that Counselor Ali W**e presented at the Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW), a national event offering more than 250 workshops, case studies, and hands‑on labs led by experts across the country. CCAW is the only conference that addresses all crimes against women through a multidisciplinary approach, drawing more than 3,000 attendees each year and strengthening coordinated community responses nationwide.
Ali presented her session, “Identifying and Addressing the Impacts of Anti‑Fat Bias in the Context of Violence Against Women,” which resonated deeply with participants. Here are a few comments from attendees:
