MNPD Family Intervention Program

MNPD Family Intervention Program Our mission is to provide mental health and criminal justice system advocacy services.

Whenever a crime occurs, many people are affected -- the victim, family members, friends, and the entire community. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department developed the Family Intervention Program as a way to help restore a sense of peace and balance to lives torn apart by violent crime.

🌟 Supporting Vulnerable Adults in Davidson County 🌟

Members of the Davidson County Vulnerable Adult Protective Investigative Team (VAPIT)—a multidisciplinary partnership between the District Attorney’s Office, MNPD, Adult Protective Services, TBI, and community agencies—recently attended the Center on Aging Research and Education Services (CARES) Conference.
VAPIT works collaboratively to investigate cases involving older and vulnerable adults, provide essential services, and reduce the risk of abuse and neglect. The CARES Conference brings together dedicated professionals and community members who strive to protect this population and strengthen their skills and awareness.
✨ This is an amazing group who exemplify what a true Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) looks like:
L to R: Laura Beth Harbin – FIP, Amy Hirschmann – VAPIT MNPD, Mary Griffin – DA’s Office, Kendra Cowper – VAPIT MNPD Domestic Violence Division

Their commitment, collaboration, and compassion make a powerful impact on vulnerable adults in our community. đź’™

🌟 Counselor Ali Wine at CCAW 2026! 🌟

We are proud to share that Counselor Ali Wine presented at the Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW), a national event offering more than 250 workshops, case studies, and hands‑on labs led by experts across the country. CCAW is the only conference that addresses all crimes against women through a multidisciplinary approach, drawing more than 3,000 attendees each year and strengthening coordinated community responses nationwide.
Ali presented her session, “Identifying and Addressing the Impacts of Anti‑Fat Bias in the Context of Violence Against Women,” which resonated deeply with participants. Here are a few comments from attendees:

• “I’ve learned more in this session than I have in the whole conference.”
• “The way you present is so engaging and interesting—you need a podcast.”
👏 We are grateful for Ali’s dedication, expertise, and the meaningful impact she continues to make on our community and profession. Metropolitan Nashville Police Department

Today is National Denim Day. Denim Day began after a 1992 case in Italy, where an 18-year-old survivor’s attacker had his conviction overturned due to the claim that her “tight jeans” implied consent, later known as the “jeans alibi.” We wear denim in support of survivors.

We are here to help. If you are a sexual assault survivor or any victim of crime, please call us for assistance. We are waiting to hear from you. 615-862-7773

Counselors from the MNPD Family Intervention Program reached out to the AJ FOP Lodge 5 via the Caring Police Respond program. The individual was in dire need of a vehicle to care for her family. With assistance from Music City Auto Brokers a vehicle was located and we were able to get the recipient into a new to her car and get her back on the road. Thank you to all our amazing partners that were able to make this happen!
