At yesterday’s Borough Council Meeting, the East Newark Police Department proudly recognized Officer Makarski and Officer Trama with proclamations for their lifesaving actions performed on April 9, 2026.

Both officers acted swiftly and professionally during a medical emergency, utilizing CPR and an automated external defibrillator (AED) to provide critical lifesaving measures.

Their quick response, training, and dedication to protecting the lives of others exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement and public service.

We commend Officer Makarski and Officer Trama for their outstanding efforts and continued commitment to the residents of East Newark.
