As you know, Newark Emergency Services for Families, Inc. created this annual Day of Service outreach event in recognition of World Homeless Day during the COVID-19 Crisis in 2020.
We have been blessed with the sponsorship and continuous support of Newark Municipal Council President LaMonica McIver.
She and her amazing team have seen us through the global pandemic, and continue to be a staunch advocate and supporters of our efforts to address hunger and homelessness in our community.
We are eternally grateful.

World Homeless Day is a global event scheduled every October 10th. It brings individuals together to find ways to change the lives of homeless people in their community. It's also a time to draw attention to the needs of the homeless on a local level.
Approximately 150 million people around the world are without a home. As the struggle with food and housing insecurity continues to grow in our area, so does the need for assistance.

In 2023 NESF hosted 53 agencies from all over New Jersey for World Homeless Day and served over 700 residents at our Day of Service outreach event.
Everything from food, clothing, medical services, employment opportunities, counseling services, haircuts, and portable showers - free and open to the public.
This event has been a great success year after year, thanks to you. Your dedication and commitment to our most vulnerable population is very much appreciated, as is your partnership.

The valuable training was provided by the Mental Health Association in New Jersey and included a performance by the Mental Health Players. In addition to thanking the Mental Health in New Jersey, we wish to thank Essex County College which hosted the training of their beautiful new building in the West Essex Campus in West Caldwell.
