Public Notification: Well No. 6 Pump Failure and Water Quality Advisory
Palo Alto Park Mutual Water Company’s Well No. 6 is temporarily out of service due to an apparent
electrical pump failure. The pump has been removed for evaluation and may remain out of service for at least
one week.
PAPMWC has requested approval from the State Division of Drinking Water to activate Well No. 7 as needed
while Well No. 6 is offline.
Historically, Well No. 7 has exceeded secondary aesthetic drinking water standards for iron, manganese, and
aluminum. These do not pose a health hazard, but customers may notice:
 Aluminum: Colored water
 Iron: Rust-colored water, sediment, metallic taste, or reddish-orange staining
 Manganese: Black or brown discoloration, black staining, or bitter metallic taste
Please help reduce demand by repairing leaks, limiting outdoor irrigation, and taking shorter showers.
PAPMWC is working with the State and its contractors to address the pump failure and maintain reliable
water service.

Contractors working near Ralmar Road and East Bayshore Road struck one of PAPMWC's water service lines. An emergency construction crew is currently onsite repairing the damage.

Customers in the area may experience a brief interruption in water service, low water flow, or low water pressure while repairs are underway.

This notice is to inform you that tree treatment (spraying) will be performed to address a current caterpillar infestation
affecting oak trees throughout the Bay Area.

The treatment will be performed by a licensed arborist/pest control professional using approved materials.
