The City of East Point is proud to celebrate Sergeant Dastassia Bailey on the publication of her first book, Unprotected and Unstoppable: A Black Woman in Law Enforcement.

Sergeant Bailey’s achievement reflects her dedication, resilience, and commitment to service both inside and outside of the profession. Through her story, she offers insight, inspiration, and encouragement to others while highlighting the experiences of women serving in law enforcement.

Officer Pena can’t be stopped! Her dedication to the citizens and community of East Point is truly unwavering. Whether she’s answering calls for service or out engaging with residents, she consistently goes above and beyond — even risking her life lol to make sure eggs were delivered to members of the community.

Officer Pena represents the true meaning of professionalism, compassion, and service. We are proud to have her as one of the newest members of our Community Affairs Unit, where she continues to build positive relationships and make a lasting impact throughout the City of East Point.

This week
detectives responded to 6978 Rogers Lake Road in Lithonia, Georgia, informally known as Aqua Waters Quarry, to follow up on an uncorroborated tip regarding the possible location of Mr. Derek Samuel.

With the assistance of the DeKalb County Police Aviation Unit, detectives conducted both aerial and ground searches of the area. The search yielded negative results, and Mr. Samuel was not located.

Detectives continue to actively investigate this case and remain committed to locating Mr. Samuel in the hopes of safely reuniting him with his family.

The East Point Police Department was honored to attend the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club’s First Responders Honors Luncheon, recognizing the dedication and service of first responders throughout the region.

We proudly congratulate Detective Crisp on being honored as Officer of the Year for the East Point Police Department in recognition of his outstanding service, professionalism, and commitment to the East Point community.

We also congratulate East Point Fire Department Lieutenant Scott Zoebisch on being voted Firefighter of the Year for his dedication and service to the community.

This event highlights the professionalism, sacrifice, and commitment displayed daily by our first responders as they continue serving others with excellence.

We also appreciate the support shown by community leaders, partners, and attendees, including former East Point Mayor Patsy Jo Hilliard.

The East Point Police Department is continuing its active investigation into the disappearance of Derek Samuel.

As part of the ongoing search efforts, officers, detectives, and specialized units conducted an extensive search in the wooded area near 3755 Redwine Road utilizing EPPD drones, police canine teams, and additional personnel in an effort to locate Mr. Samuel.

The East Point Police Department remains committed to this investigation and asks anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Derek Samuel to contact the East Point Police Department or your local law enforcement agency.
