A special election will be held in East Providence on Tuesday November 7, 2017. Voters may vote to approve or disapprove proposed amendments to the City Charter as passed by the Charter Review Commission and approved and/or amended by the City Council. The ballot questions and polling locations are pictured. The language of the amendments can be found at this link to the Charter Review Commission’s page on the City of East Providence website - http://www.eastprovidence.com/charterreview. The same link can also be used to access the Technical Amendment previously passed by the Commission and approved by the City Council. The Chairman of the Commission, Jim Russo, will be speaking to the following groups to review the amendments and answer any questions people may have regarding them:

- The East Providence Chamber of Commerce - October 19
- Tockwotton on the Waterfront - October 25
- The Rumford Lions - October 26
- The East Providence - Seekonk Rotary Club - November 6
- Previously addressed – The Riverside Renaissance Movement – October 2.

Good Morning!

At last night's Charter Review Commission meeting, the commission passed and officially transmitted to the City Council the technical amendment to the city charter which reconciles the rest of the charter with the mayor-council change in government passed by the voters last November as well as other technical changes to comply with state laws, to include female pronouns and grammatical changes.

The technical amendment will now go before the City Council.
