Saturday was a great day for East Ridge! We officially celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of the East Ridge Community Center!

After years of planning, construction, renovations, and a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes, we were proud to reopen the doors to a facility that has been a special gathering place for generations of East Ridge families.

These renovations represent an important investment in our community, our families, and our future. From the beautifully renovated spaces to the expanded gymnasium, the Community Center is ready for its next chapter and many more years of serving East Ridge.

I want to thank our City Council, City staff, Parks & Recreation team, contractors, partners, and everyone who worked together to make this project a reality.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone in our community who came out Saturday to celebrate with us! We hope you will enjoy the facility, take advantage of everything it has to offer, and make many new memories here for generations to come.

Today we celebrated the Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting of our newly renovated Camp Jordan-East Ridge Canoe Launches.

These improvements provide enhanced access to South and West Chickamauga Creeks, creating new opportunities for paddling, outdoor recreation, environmental education, and exploring one of our region's most valuable natural resources.

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we also commemorate a truly historic milestone — the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America.

For two and a half centuries, generations of Americans have worked to preserve the freedoms and opportunities established by our nation's founders. We honor the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit that have shaped our country and continue to unite us as Americans.

On behalf of the City of East Ridge, I wish you and your family a safe, joyful, and memorable Independence Day. May we all take a moment to reflect on the values of liberty, service, and community that define our nation and inspire future generations.

To the Citizens of East Ridge,

It has been an incredible honor and privilege for you to allow me to serve as your Mayor for the past eight years. As I seek re-election in 2026, I humbly ask for your continued support and vote so that we can continue building upon the progress and momentum our city has achieved together.

East Ridge has been my home for more than 28 years, and I remain deeply committed to the community that my family and I love. Throughout my time in public service, I have worked diligently to keep taxes low, protecting our residential neighborhoods, promoting responsible growth, sound financial management, improved city services, and investments that enhance the quality of life for our residents.

My professional career includes more than 30 years in Information Technology and over 23 years with Quanta Services, Inc., a leading 28-billion-dollar utility infrastructure company. As an IT Department Head & Director of Enterprise Financial Applications, I oversee complex projects, budgets, strategic planning, and technology initiatives that require accountability, leadership, and fiscal responsibility.

The knowledge and experience I have gained through my professional career, combined with my service as a City Councilmember and Mayor, have provided me with a strong foundation for leading our city. Over the past eight years, East Ridge has experienced significant growth and investment, including new businesses, expanded employment opportunities, infrastructure/paving improvements, enhanced public services, and continued economic development initiatives that are strengthening our community for future generations.

I am proud of what we have accomplished together, but there is still important work ahead. I remain committed to transparent government, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, public safety, economic development, and preserving the small-town values that make East Ridge a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in me over the past 8 years. I would be honored to continue serving as your Mayor and respectfully ask for your vote and support in the 2026 election.

One of its categories is the Community Service Award for Tourism Attraction, which celebrates organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to the Chattanooga tourism sector and the broader community.

We are proud to announce that our East Ridge Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded the 2026 Community Service Award for Tourism Attraction for the continued success and positive impact of Camp Jordan Park.

This recognition reflects not only the park's role in attracting visitors to East Ridge, but also its exceptional level of community engagement and year-round utilization by residents, sports organizations, event organizers, and families throughout the region.
