Last week, the Bergen County Office of Food Security held our 6th Annual Food Pantry Summit at Bergen Community College, bringing together local pantries and food providers for a day of connection and collaboration.

Over the past year, reductions to social safety net programs like SNAP have created added challenges for emergency food providers. Nevertheless, organizations across Bergen County continue to step up each day to ensure that residents in need have access to essential food and support.

We are grateful to our local food pantries as well as our honorees for the work they do on behalf of our Bergen County neighbors in need. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this important Summit!

The County of Bergen joined together last week to commemorate The Great Hunger, where we paid tribute to the more than 1 million lives lost to starvation during this dark chapter, as well as the incredible resilience of the Irish people.

Thank you to the Council of Irish Associations of Greater Bergen County for their partnership in hosting this event and to all who donated items for our Bergen County Office of Food Security. These contributions will allow us to continue combatting food insecurity here at home.

Thank you to all who joined us for this solemn commemoration.
